Mid-level Service TechnicianAVM has several openings for technicians at it's Mamaroneck NY location.
Mid-level service technicians inspect, maintain and repair vehicles. Technicians must use diagnostic tools to identify the source of problems and then make adjustments or repairs.
As with all positions within AVM, mid-level service technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.
Job DutiesThe duties of a mid-level service technician vary depending on specialties; however, general duties include:
- Diagnosing the cause of malfunctions and performing work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards.
- Installing, repairing or replacing all parts of a vehicle conversion and servicing components and controls; and testing electronic components in automobiles to ensure that they are working properly.
- Communicating directly with the service advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
- Inspecting and testing new vehicles for damage and recording findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
- May supervise and train apprentice or entry-level technicians.
Job RequirementsTwo to five years of experience as an entry-level technician.
Service technicians must keep abreast of the federal, state and local regulations that affect their operations, and must also comply with these regulations as well as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA, NHTSA, NMEDA, SAE, and QAP policies.
Technicians working in the mobility industry may have to work extended hours, evenings or weekends to achieve their goals and timeframes/deadlines of the company. Mobile service may be required.
Must have clean DL, and have own tools in a rollaway box.
Education RequirementsCertified high school or community college as a minimum
The following coursework is beneficial to seeking a career in mobility service: mathematics, computers/electronics, automotive service and technology and courses that teach analytical skills.

Physical DemandsWorking in the automotive industry can be physically demanding. Technicians may spend most of their workday on their feet or in other non sitting positions. Technicians may carry heavy and awkwardly sized items. A reasonable level of physical fitness and flexibility is beneficial.
